What Kensington Races
Where Royal Randwick Racecourse – Alison Rd, Randwick NSW 2031
When Wednesday, June 16, 2021
First Race 1:20pm AEST

Seven races will be run and won on the Randwick-Kensington course on Wednesday, and HorseBetting’s NSW analyst has come up with three betting tips and a quaddie for the afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 6, the rail is in the 4m position for the entire course, and the first race will jump at 1:20pm AEST.

Kensington Best Bet: Construct

The Snowden stable saddle up the first horse in the race book on Wednesday in two-year-old colt Construct. The son of I Am Invincible was a runner-up on debut to Magic Millions winner Shaquero but is yet to breakthrough in three subsequent starts. All three starts saw the colt contest hot races, including the Blue Diamond Prelude, Blue Diamond Stakes and the Black Opal. In preparation for this assignment he has trialled well, winning both times, and he gets Hugh Bowman on. This is the easiest race he’s ever been in, so class should prevail.

Best BetRace 1 – Construct (#1) $3.80 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Kensington: Nyami

James McDonald and Chris Waller combine in the fifth with last-start winner Nyami. The four-year-old son of Charm Spirit has only won four of his 14 starts, and two of those have been with McDonald in the saddle; the pair strike at 66% together, which is a big plus given the draw in barrier 10 and the top weight of 60.5kg. McDonald gave this gelding a dream run over the same distance at Warwick Farm last start, and although drawn wider here, they can still get a nice run outside the lead. He is a handy horse and looks to be in top form.

Next BestRace 5 – Nyami (#1) $4.50 with Sportsbet

Kensington Value Bet: Tamerlane

Hugh Bowman can bookend the card on Wednesday when he parters James Cummings’ Tamerlane. Bowman steered this three-year-old to a good win at Gosford first-up, and they reunite at metropolitan level in a bid to make it three wins from six starts. The son of Golden Horn had to duck and weave his way home over 1200m when fresh on a Soft 6, so now with the extra fitness and another 100m, he should relish the conditions. This looks a nice race for a nice horse.

Best ValueRace 7 – Tamerlane (#7) $6 with Sportsbet
