Randwick full form & tips for Saturday, January 6

AUSTRALIA’S racing focus will be almost solely on Randwick this Saturday after all but one Victorian meets were called off.

Luckily Sydney is hosting a sensational nine race card to distract us from that fact and we cannot wait for the weekend to roll around.

Let’s get straight into the tips.

Race 1 – Benchmark 76 (1400m)

Aqua D’ivina looks well placed to win two races in a row. As a short-priced favourite at Wyong the well-bred filly hammered the field to break the maiden, and while the step-up is considerable, we have a very high opinion of what the daughter of Pierro can achieve.

Race 1 tip: Aqua D’ivina to win ($4.20 at William Hill)

Race 2 – Handicap (1200m)

Sokudo is a dual acceptor but if it runs here we think it will be hard to hold out. The horse only narrowly missed out on debut at Warwick Farm on December 23 and if it runs to that standard again it will be winning this one.

Race 2 tip: Sokudo to win ($6 at Neds)

Race 3 – Benchmark 79 (1200m)

The Pharoah was a hot prospect six months ago, but a bad run of form has taken it out of the public eye. We have a lot of time for this four-year-old however, and will be backing it in for a bounce back performance due to the significant drop in grade here.

Race 3 tip: The Pharoah to win ($5.50 at Neds)

Race 4 – Class 3 Handicap (1300m)

We’ve backed Awesome Pluck in the past and we’re backing it again. The horse is unlucky not to be undefeated in its three run career after recording two losses by a combined half a length. Awesome Pluck will strip fitter after its return run at Port Macquarie on New Years Day and we are expecting a win.

Race 4 tip: Awesome Pluck to win ($1.80 at Sportsbet)

Race 5 – Benchmark 85 (1600m)

Chris Waller runner Cellarman has been in great form over the last five races and will be the horse to beat here. Three of those runs were victories, further highlighting just how good the Mossman gelding is.

Race 5 tip: Cellarman to win ($2.40 at William Hill)

Race 6 – Benchmark 85 (1000m)

Guard Of Honour won well as a short-priced favourite at Muswellbrook first-up and presents as a great winning chance on Saturday. The horse has won at both track and distance prior to the meet and carried 60.5kg to victory last-start.

Guard Of Honour ticks all the boxes.

Race 6 tip: Guard Of Honour to win ($2.70 at Crownbet)

Race 7 – Benchmark 80 (1400m)

Mollyfied has a brilliant preparation to date and we think it can add a third win to its 13 race career. The horse goes up slightly in grade which is why it’s slightly longer in the market but recent runs suggest it can take out this event.

Race 7 tip: Mollyfied to win ($7.50 at Neds)

Race 8 – Benchmark 94 (1400m)

If Noire runs in this race it simply wins. The horse is seeking a fourth-straight success and has been progressing through the grades the entire time. The Foxwedge mare looks to be a star of the future.

Race 8 tip: Noire to win ($1.95 at Crownbet)

Race 9 – Benchmark 80 (1400m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1177485_09]

Samadoubt is third-up on Saturday where it has previously won at in the past. The horse smashed the field on December 20 in a benchmark 74 event at Canterbury and we think that holds the horse in great stead coming into this one.

Race 9 tip: Samadoubt to win ($3.70 at Neds)
