Racing NSW have today announced that they will be launching an equestrian event worth at least $1 million for retired racehorses.

Equimillion, as the exclusive ex-racehorse event has been named, will carry the seven-figure prize pool to be distributed across a multitude of disciplines and classes in what is being dubbed the biggest two-day equestrian event to ever be held in New South Wales.

The inaugural Equimillion event is scheduled to be held in October 2023, with Racing NSW Chief Executive Peter V’landys declaring it the “go-to” competition for equestrian participants.

“Equimillion will become the go to event for equestrian competitors in all disciplines,” he said.

“It has the potential to carry more than the $1 million in prizemoney and in time will be not only a major equestrian event, but a major event for NSW with competitors coming from all states of Australia.”

The competition is expected to include dressage, eventing, show jumping and showing with a particular focus on amateur competitors.

Three-time TJ Smith Stakes winner Chautauqua has recently begun a career in the field of equestrian, with his new owner Casey Bruce sharing a post on social media in November after winning the Champion Open Ridden Newcomer OTT at the Bendigo Showgrounds.

More details about Equimillion are expected to be revealed in the near future.
