The Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes marks the halfway point of the nine-race card at Morphettville on Saturday afternoon. The mile event is worth a touch over $200,000, with a field of 12 fillies and mare accepting for the race.

The Peter Moody-trained In Good Health looks to be the natural leader in the race, with Fabric and Echo Boomer expected to be close to her throughout. The likes of Lunakorn and Maximak will need a bit of luck, as they will look to settle towards the rear of the field.

Queen Of South Stakes Betting Preview

There looks to be plenty of value in the Queen Of The South Stakes, hence why we are happy to be with Shop Til I Drop at double figures. The Tony McEvoy-trained Savabeel mare was an eye catcher in a BM82 here on April 17 in her return from 18 months off the track. All signs point towards a strong performance for the five-year-old; Barend Vorster has ridden her five times for three wins, she has a second-up victory to her name, and she is yet to finish outside of the top three in four starts at Morphettville. Shop Til I Drop has shown she can run a strong mile, so she will take some holding out if she can settle a touch closer to the speed this time from barrier four.

Formerly with Patrick Payne, Echo Boomer has made a solid fist of it since coming across to Ryan Balfour’s stable in South Australia. The mare out of Duporth was strong winner in a BM60 at her last start despite settling no better than three wide without cover. She has made her way through the grades and has earned her crack here in a deep Group 2 field. From barrier two, she will be close to the speed throughout, and with confidence behind her she is set to run a big race at an each-way price.

Throw in the likes of Lunakorn, In Good Health and Fabric, and the 2021 Queen Of The South Stakes will no doubt provide a strong form reference going forward.
