Quaddie tips for Thursday, July 7 races at Bendigo

quaddie of the week
A MAMMOTH 10-race card greets punters at Bendigo on Friday afternoon, which is the venue for our quaddie this weekend.

We were desperately unlucky last week after nailing the opening leg and just missing out on the second and fourth legs.

This week in Bendigo we are backing ourselves in to generate a winning quaddie and we’re confidently-laying our hard-earned on the line in the rural surrounds of country Victoria.

Race seven on the card at Tribute To Donna Pilpot benchmark 64, which kicks off the quaddie at 3pm.

Race 7 – Tribute To Donna Pilpot BM64 (2400m)

In the brilliantly named first leg of the quaddie there are three standouts for us kicking things off.

Sammy The Snake carries topweight into this one but is racing in great form. The six-year-old just missed out at Geelong two weeks ago, but gets a shot at redemption here. The weight penalty – an additional 3kg – will be tough to overcome, as will be the wide barrier, but a good run in transit could see it torch this field.

Look At Me Now has been racing well across a similar class and distance this preparation, but has yet to break through. Friday will be a month break between its last competitive outing and we think Weir will have his mare in peak condition for this one.

Masterton is a gelding that has the ability to take a race like this out. It is resuming on Friday after back-to-back placings, and should be long in the market given those performances were hardly eye-catching. Still, we have a lot of faith in the lightly raced four-year-old and we think it is capable of rolling them here.

Race 8 – Wilson Medic Rising Stars BM64 (1600m)

Brilliant mare Don’t Have To Yell is aiming for its third straight win and fourth of its 12 race career. Across this distance the horse has lost just once at three attempts and its last start step up to benchmark 64 level proved no issues at Swan Hill. The Duncan mare is the one to beat.

Our Mallee Hoff is another in-form runner that will be right in the mix here. Last time out at Bendigo it just got the nod in to win a benchmark 64 race. The gelding gets a 2kg penalty, but we are still expecting it to be pushing for back-to-back victories.

Simply Invincible is the only other horse in the field capable of troubling the aforementioned pair. The three-year-old drops back in class after a class one running and two back-to-back runs at benchmark 70 level. The horse has not won for almost 12 months but has a chance to break the duck Friday.

Race 9 – Beck Legal BM78 (1000m)

The hardest leg of the day is ninth race on the card given there are some seriously out of form gallopers going around here.

Go Public is second up on Friday where it has previously won before. The last start eighth placing at Moonee Valley hardly inspires confidence but we are willing to forgive the run. The Stratum gelding will relish the chance to get back out there and atone.

Squeaky Squirrel takes to the track after a semi-successful return to racing at Wagga where it finished third. The only concern here is the fact the horse has never won second up, but last week’s race gave punters hope it can break the second-up blues.

Experienced four-year-old Petite’s Reward will be looking to turn around an average run of recent form. It has been over 12 months since the horse has won, and over seven months since it has even placed, but given this field is weak we would not be surprised to see the mare get the job done.

Race 10 – Mypunter.com BM70 (1000m)

Painfully consistent mare Alvilda resumes after a four month break and if it is anywhere near its best it will be smashing this lot on Friday. A 79 percent place strikerate highlight just how good this horse is and the four-year-old will be out to maintain a great record which has seen it never miss a placing at this distance.

Flying Flo Jo is looking to go back-to-back after a strong win at Donald last time out. The five-year-old is racing second up Friday too where it has one win and one placing from four attempts. The mare looks well placed to take this one out.

Shea Eden-trained Sports Writer is only lightly raced but has shown tremendous ability across its five race career. It is racing for the first time this year, so the market will tell the story but the last start win at Donald was brilliant in December and anything close to that sees the mare win here.
