Mishani Bullitt (left) will put his Queensland Guineas claims to the test in the Fred Best Classic.

Promising three-year-old Mishani Bullitt is likely to skip the Group One Stradbroke Handicap even if he gets a free passage into the race.

Mishani Bullitt will contest the Group Three Fred Best Classic (1350m) which carries a ballot exemption into the Stradbroke Handicap for the winner.

Trainer Chris Anderson is bemused by Mishani Bullitt’s big price in the Classic after his strong third to top Sydney gallopers Perast and Marsupial at his last start.

But Anderson agreed Mushani Bullitt’s chances at Doomben on Saturday had improved Champagne Cuddles didn’t accept for the Fred Best.

“My bloke was far from disgraced at his last start but it was that run which has us looking for something longer than 1350 metres as a long-term goal,” Anderson said.

“If the Stradbroke was 1400 metres at Eagle Farm we might have rolled the dice. But 1350 metres at Doomben in a Group One might not suit him.”

“We are looking at the Queensland Guineas at 1600 metres on Stradbroke day.”
