Punters hoping for something special from Saul in WA Guineas
IT may sit on the fourth line of betting, but the punter’s elect for Saturday’s Western Australian Guineas is Saul’s Special.
The three-year-old has won $253,000 from its first six starts and is currently $7 at Sportsbet.com.au for the feature at Ascot.
Punters have spent more than double the money backing in the Chris Waller-trained colt than has been received for the $5 favourite, Ellicazoom.
The race is a wide-open one for punters. Impressive chances Humanity and Whispering Brook are both at $6, while Get Over it and Lusaha sit at $9 in the 16-horse field.
Sportsbet odds man Will Byrne said the punters have clearly made up their minds.
“Punters have made an early call in the Guineas and Saul’s Special is the one they have come for. He’s a promising colt, won well in listed company at his last start and prior to a spell, he was second in the WA Sires Produce,’’ Byrne said.

Perfect Reflection leads the Railway Stakes market
Four-year-old Perfect Reflection has come into favouritism for the Railway Stakes after a betting plunge.
The Grant and Allana Williams-trained mare went from $7 on the fourth line of betting to the top of the market at $5.50 at Sportsbet.com.au.
He Or She has received solid support at $13 and there’s been significant interest in Chris Waller chances Mackintosh ($6) and Rageese ($6.50), but the favourite, Perfect Reflection, has firmed from $7.00 into $5.50 favourite.
