PuntDrunk : Bookmaker Comes Out With The Goods & Refunds Isotope!

Punt Drunk News – Sunday, 17th January 2021

Well what a day that was! Magic Millions never fails to deliver. We had Hugh Bowman and Chris Waller combine for another feature event win in the 2YO Classic with Shaquero proving too good! Whilst Aim set the record straight after going around as a well supported commodity 12 months earlier in the 2YO Classic when finishing third, and came out and caused a boilover in the 3YO Guineas this time around. Elsewhere, Jessica Eaton rode four of the first five winners at Murray Bridge, Fabergino continued her love affair associated with the Flemington straight, and Tailleur dampened the return of The Bopper at Rosehill.

It’s all building up for a fantastic Autumn Carnival, and if that was the appetiser to some of the racing we can expect in the next couple of months, then strap in Ladies and Gents, this is going to be fun!

Things you love to see: Part One

How bloody good was it to see Bjorn Baker cheer a winner home like most of us do at least 15 times each and every Saturday? It was in Rosehill’s fourth race where Baker had the $3.10 favourite Harpo Marx go around, but when runaway leader Vadiyann kicked six lengths clear at the top of the straight, the Baker trained Harpo Max needed to explode from third place to get anywhere close to the breakaway leader. Boy, didn’t he do that? He made up plenty of ground in the home straight and over the last 50m grew a pair of wings to pip the leader on the line in dramatic circumstances!

Things you love to see: Part Two

Now, we are all for people having their own opinion on things, even if they’re wrong. It was ever so prevalent yesterday afternoon when a group of protesters were escorted out of the Magic Millions raceday for let’s face it being a massive pain in the ass. Imagine dressing up, paying all that money to get ready and go to the event to only protest and get thrown out? You have one of them big brains if you think that’s the way to go about it. Sure, there’s ways our industry can improve, we all know this and we are all working on it. How about the reception they got when getting evicted? To the crowd at the Gold Coast we raise a glass to you legends! You bloody deserve it.

Things you love to see: Part Three

Now firstly, we are over the moon to hear that both Isotope and Ryan Maloney are completely fine following a fall when cornering in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas. However, massive fair play to Sportsbet who refunded all bets on the Tony Gollan trained filly who had plenty of backers heading into the event. Most bookies would have happily taken all the money, because let’s face it there would have been plenty. But they did one for the battlers, refunded us in bonus bets, just so we could lose it on the next at Camperdown. What legends!

Dodgy story on Sportsbet. I had $1k on isotope and not a cent in bonus bets offered for losing.
