Punt Drunk The Championships Day 2 edition

Good morning punters and welcome to a special #PuntDrunk edition based around Day 2 of The Championships at Randwick! There’s plenty of racing to be had around the country today and with a bit of luck, the team here at Horse Betting can steer you into a few winners!

Can Edward join his brother and grandfather?!

The Cummings name will forever be enriched in the Australian Horse Racing Industry. Between Bart Cummings and James Cummings the family have more Group 1 successes than what most families have had hot dinners. Today, can Edward Cummings join that dinner table? He saddles up Duais in the ATC Oaks and will be hoping to follow in his brother’s and grandfather’s footsteps! Having taken out the Adrian Knox Stakes last weekend with Duais, he certainly has a chance. A member of the #PuntDrunk team has a $101 ticket on Duais so we may be a little biased in cheering him home today!

Realm Of Success?

Sydney Cup trials don’t come anymore encouraging than what Realm Of Flowers put forward in the Manion Cup last time out. The Freedman-trained mate when down by less than half of a length after being three wide the trip. She goes around today with just 50kg on her back and we are struggling to find anything that beats her! Chips in fellas.

The Race That Stops The Nation

Is today’s running of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the Melbourne Cup 2.0? Addeybb and Verry Elleegant are set to battle it out yet again in the great race, but this time we add in Mugatoo and Sir Dragonet to the fold. Oh and Mo’unga too! It may be billed as a match race between Addeybb and Verry Elleegant but it is going to be so much more than just that! You have the up and coming star in Mo’unga, the Cox Plate winner in Sor Dragonet and the All Star Mile in Mugatoo! How do you choose a winner?! Somehow we have settled on Verry Elleegant, but this could go any which way.

Load Up On The Kiwi!

We have stopped ourselves in the past from declaring a runner a moral. We were oh so close to doing with Anamoe last week, and in hindsight we chickened out for the wrong reasons. This time, we’re declaring the kiwi mare Probabeel a moral in the Queen of the Turf Stakes! Sure, she needs to lug the big weight around, but the field she meets here is hardly up to some of the fields she has competed in this campaign, including in the Caulfield Stakes which she won. Take the $2.50 on offer and run to the bank, she’s a genuine load up job!
