Prodigal son Moody returns to Charleville

Multiple Group One-winning trainer Peter Moody makes the trip home to western Queensland in his role as Battle of The Bush ambassador on Saturday.

Moody will be in Charleville for a heat of the Battle of The Bush which is run over 16 heats in country centres followed by a $102,000 final at Eagle Farm on June 23.

Originally from Charleville, Moody went on to be one of Australia’s great trainers before taking a break from the sport three years ago.

Moody is constantly in demand in various roles ranging from guest speaking to his role job as a bloodstock agent but he was happy to take on the ambassador role.

“It is a great idea to get interest and in country racing and I have been impressed by what I have seen,” Moody said.

“I was in Warwick last week and got to see one of my former apprentices in Cecily Eaton ride the heat winner Machu Picchu.”

Moody will be in Nanango, in the Burnett region, next week for another heat.
