The annual Magic Millions WA Ladies Day meeting at Pinjarra Park features a bumper nine-race card, highlighted by the Listed Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy and the Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic. With warm weather and no rain on the forecast for Friday and Saturday, we expect to be racing on a Good surface. The rail will be in the true position and the first race on Saturday will jump at 12:24pm AWST.

Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy Tip: Street Parade

The first of the feature races will be the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy over 1200m, where the Russell Stewart-trained Street Parade will be looking to return to the winners circle after finishing fifth and third behind a few smart ones at his last two starts. This son of Lucky Street has finished in the placings at nine of his 12 career starts to date, racing in Listed and Group company along the way. At his most recent start, this gelding finished third behind My Bella Mae and Cut The Talk, with the former going onto win the Listed Cyril Flowers Stakes at her next start and the latter winning as an odds-on favourite at Ascot on Wednesday. With those two runners coming out and winning their next race it indicates that this geldings last start is becoming a very good form reference to follow. Chris Parnham will jump aboard on this gelding after riding him two starts back, and from barrier seven we should see him go to the front and give the rest of the field something to chase.

Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic Tip: A Lot Of Good Men

In the second of the feature races, the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, we will see the very smart A Lot Of Good Men attempting to record his third win in a row after two impressive wins to begin this campaign. This two-year-old colt has shown his explosive turn of foot at both of his wins, as he has settled mid-field before getting to the outside and running straight past the leader to record easy back-to-back wins while being throttled down in the final 50m. At this colts last start, he beat most of the rivals that he will face again on Saturday and all he will need is even luck to beat them once again. He drops 1.5kg after winning last start for this Listed race which gets him in very well at the weights. Paul Harvey will continue his strong affiliation with this colt, going for his third win at his fourth ride. This colt looks to have a very bright future and he should be extending his winning streak this Saturday afternoon.

Best Bet at Pinjarra: Valsassina

Our best bet of the day will be the Simon Miller-trained Valsassina who is dropping back in grade from the Listed WA Breeders Classic to a One Metro Win Handicap, where she will be very hard to beat. This three-year-old filly began this campaign with two very impressive wins, winning by a combined five lengths over 1200m. Simon Miller looks to have a very nice filly on his hands, but last start proved that she may not be ready to go Listed level just yet and coming back to this grade on Saturday should be perfect for her to regain some confidence. This daughter of Choisir has drawn barrier one on for her next assignment, which isn’t ideal for a filly that likes to settle mid-field and then run on down the outside. Patrick Carbery has ridden the filly at all five of her career starts, so we know that he will have her in the best position possible and with even luck, she will be storming home late.

Best Bet

Next Best Bet at Pinjarra: Metallon

The fifth race of the day will see the very talented Metallon from the Todd Harvey yard back at the races once again for his second start this preparation, after winning his first start back over 1000m at Ascot on January 28. This four-year-old son of Oratorio has finished in the placings at six of his seven career starts, with five of those six seeing him past the winning post first. When first-up this gelding settled outside the leader and travelled sweetly to the home bend, and as the leader tried to kick away, Shaun McGruddy shook him up and hit the go button, before he quickly reeled the leader in and went on by with 75m to go. Now that he is a four-year-old and has had two full preparations under his belt, it looks as though he has furnished into a very nice race horse. From barrier one on Saturday, McGruddy will look to settle outside the leader or take up the lead and then up the ante with 300m to go and give the rest of the field something to chase.

Best Value at Pinjarra: Westriver Miracle

The last race of the day will see the Daniel & Ben Pearce-trained Westriver Miracle come to the Pinjarra Park 1600m where he is unbeaten from one go at the track and trip. At his first two starts this preparation, the five-year-old gelding finished third and sixth behind the very smart The Velvet Queen over 1500m and 1600m, finishing just over two lengths behind her at both starts. Now that this gelding is dropping back in grade from Minimum 84 grade and Open grade to a Rating 66+ Handicap on Saturday, we should see this guy get his best chance to win another race this time in. Lucy Warwick will be legged back aboard this weekend for her fourth ride on this gelding looking to record her second win. From barrier six on Saturday, we should see Warwick settle this guy mid-field and look to build into the race around the home bend, before charging home late to stake his claim in the concluding stages of the race.
