Horsebetting.com.au brings you all the best bets, top odds and quaddie selections for the nine race card scheduled for Pinjarra Cup Day on Sunday afternoon. The Pinjarra Park track is rated a Good 4, but up to 20mm of rain is expected on race day so expect the track to deteriorate throughout the meeting. The rail is in the true position for the card, with the first race jumping at 12:42pm AWST.
Pinjarra Cup: #1 Trap For Fools
On the back of a narrow defeat in the Old Comrade Stakes on April 2, Trap For Fools looks well placed to bring up his first win since December 12 in the Towton Cup. Despite needing to lug 62kg on his back on Sunday and giving away 6.5kg to his rivals, we expect Brad Rawiller to roll the Group 1 winning gelding to the front and make this a genuinely run 2300m event. Unbelievably, this will be Trap For Fools’ first start at 2300m but is rock hard fit and will take some catching if allowed to roll at a nice genuine tempo out in front.

Best Bet: #7 Smoker
The Brian Kersley-trained Smoker was narrowly beaten over this track and distance on March 18 when a well-backed favourite. The three-year-old filly seemingly got too far out of her ground, yet absolutely flew home to just miss . From barrier 11 and down the Pinjarra straight we expect her to settle towards the rear of the field again, but with a bit of luck be there to pounce over the final 400m. The experience over the Pinjarra 1000m should hold the Vital Equine filly in good stead and will be too hard to hold out come Sunday afternoon.

Next Best: #6 Fiery Bay
In the final event on Pinjarra Cup day, we will be hoping Brian Kersley can bring up a training double when he saddles up Fiery Bay over the 1300m. The Laguna de Bay gelding looked to have been a certainty beaten on March 25 at this track and distance when angling for a run through most of the home straight. When he finally got a passage clear, he leapt out of the ground and got the job done in the shadows of the winning post. If afforded clear air on Sunday he looks awfully hard to beat in the final leg of the quaddie.
