WA Breeders Classic – Fine Romance
The Listed WA Breeders Classic is the feature event at Pinjarra on Sunday afternoon, and we are hoping the Hayden Ballantyne-trained Fine Romance can handle the step up in grade. Having just broken her maiden over the mile at Pinjarra, the three-year-old filly out of So You Think steps back to the 1400m for this, her first crack at Stakes level. Having not finished outside of the minor placings in any of her five career starts, she hardly knows how to run a poor race, and considering William Pike sticks on board, we expect she will be hard to hold out. With genuine speed expected to be set by race favourite Trix Of The Trade and outsider Primative, the race looks perfectly set up for Fine Romance to finish over the top of her rivals with a nice turn of foot. The $4.80 on offer from Sportsbet is good enough for us.
Best Bet at Pinjarra – Rommel’s Jeuney
Neville Parnham will be hoping the drop back from an Ascot 1400m event to a 1200m maiden at Pinjarra will help get Rommel’s Jeuney maiden out of the way. The three-year-old son of Rommel managed to lead the field up last time out but copped a stitch over the final 125m to be run down late. On the back of that, the step down to 1200m looks to be ideal, and with Brad Parnham sticking on board, he looks to be a clear best bet of the day. Rommel’s Jeuney is set to gain an uncontested lead out in front and should prove too good for a maiden field that lacks any depth.
Next Best Bet at Pinjarra – Tell Nothin’
In the opening leg of the quaddie, we will be hoping the Julie Mitchell-trained Tell Nothin’ can bring up consecutive wins for the first time in his career. Having broken through for a maiden victory at Pinjarra over 2200m last time out, he looks well-placed to go on with the job here. Jason Whiting sticks on board and from barrier two should gain every advantage in the running. With Roster Art set to provide a genuine tempo out in front, it will be set up for the likes of Tell Nothin’ to finish over the top of them in a genuine staying event over 2200m.
