Pakenham Horse Betting Preview – February 25, 2021

The night racing season continues in Victoria this Thursday evening as Pakenham hosts its weekly card. With eight races set to be run and won on a Good 4 track with the rail out 3m, we are set for a cracking night of gallops on the southeastern fringe of Melbourne. The first at Pakenham is set to jump at 6pm AEDT.

Best Bet: Zoutellus

Ken Keys saddles up this three-year-old son of Zoustar in Zoutellus, who has run five minor placings in five starts to begin his career. Unfortunately for favourite backers he has been rolled three times as top elect, including his last-start third here over 1400m. He seemingly does his best racing up on speed, and stepping up to the 1600m for the first time in his career looks to be ideal. From barrier seven and with the in-form Luke Currie on board, Zoutellus maps to sit outside the leader and should be too fit and strong for this thin-looking maiden field.

Best BetRace 4 – Zoutellus (#9) $1.90 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Judestar

Two runs back the Wendy-Kelly trained Judestar demolished her rivals at this track when bolting clear over the final 200m off a soft run. Her last start was in town on the Hillside track at Sandown, where she just missed when closing from the rear of the field to go down by a half-head on the line. Daniel Stackhouse steered the Pakenham win and hops back on board for this assignment. Expect Judestar to settle in the forward half of the field as she looks for her third win of this campaign.

Next BestRace 7 – Judestar (#12) $4 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Casa Del Sol

The Archie Alexander-trained Case Del Sol is set to resume following a spell of nearly six months. Having finished three lengths behind Aysar and Poland in his debut campaign, the three-year-old son of Rich Enuff looks to have a bit of a class on his side. His only first-up run to date resulted in a win over 1200m, which is what he gets on Thursday. He looks a get-back-and-run-on type based on his form to date, so expect Casa Del Sol to savage the line late.

Best ValueRace 6 – Casa Del Sol (#5) $8.50 with Sportsbet
