HorseBetting’s Victorian racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie selections for the eight-race card to be held this Tuesday on Pakenham’s synthetic track. Perfect conditions are forecast for the meeting, so there should be no excuses for fancied runners on the day.

Pakenham Best Bet: Blood Sweat Tears

Blood Sweat Tears for Ciaron Maher & David Eustace was incredibly unlucky when beaten narrowly over this track and distance on June 8; he was trapped four wide without cover from the 1000m mark and only went down by a half-length on the line. Despite drawing barrier 13, the Reward For Effort gelding has the barrier speed to overcome the wide draw, and apprentice Josh Richards’ 2kg claim makes him hard to go past. Richards will look to get down to the rail or settle just one off it, and if Blood Sweat Tears is afforded a touch of luck where he does not get trapped out wide, he should be too good in the third leg of the quaddie.

Best BetRace 7 – Blood Sweat Tears (#1) $3 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Pakenham: Manhattan Sting

Chris Hyland takes his four-year-old Dundeel gelding Manhattan Sting back to the Pakenham 2200m, where he was a smart winner on June 8. On that day he managed to dictate terms out in front under a well-rated ride from Beau Mertens, and despite going up 2kg off that win, he looks hard to beat yet again. From barrier four, Melham should have no issue in getting Manhattan Sting to the rail, where he can again dictate terms. He has a clear liking for the synthetic surface, having only missed the top three on one of his three prior runs on the plastic.

Next BestRace 6 – Manhattan Sting (#4) $2.90 with Sportsbet

Pakenham Value Bet: Camerata

The Anthony Freedman-trained Camerata was beaten a length in her first-up run over the 1400m on the Pakenham synthetic on June 4. She settled towards the rear of the field that day but made up reasonable ground, suggesting she should appreciate the step up to 1600m. With Michael Dee hopping back on board, expect the Redoute’s Choice filly to settle one off the rails with cover before making her run down the outside and savaging the line late.

Best ValueRace 4 – Camerata (#9) $10 with Sportsbet
