The Synthetic track at Pakenham Racecourse is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Tuesday afternoon and Horsebetting’s Victorian horse racing tipping expert present his best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers. It is forecast to be a perfect winter’s day for the meeting, so there will be no excuses for fancied runners across the meeting that gets underway at 1pm AEST.

Pakenham Best Bet: Michante

The undefeated Michante from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace yard comes to the Pakenham Synthetic following two victories to begin his career on the Ballarat Synthetic. Despite inning by narrow margins at both starts, they say winning form is good form and the way she put his opponents away on June 29 suggested she was one to follow going forward. The four-year-old Americain mare sustained a long run from the back of the field to do her best work late, after he debut win saw her settle close to the speed and ultimately prove too strong late. She is tactically versatile and with Heidi Gillie claiming 4kg will go around with 60.5kg on her back. Despite needing to lug the big weight, we expect Michante too good forward and dictate terms, where she should ultimately prove too good once more as she continues her rise through the grade.

Best BetRace 7 – Michante (#1) $1.85 with Ladbrokes

Next Best at Pakenham: The Defiant One

Our other best bet also comes from the Maher and Eustace stable, this time with The Defiant One stepping out over 1400m as he set to appreciate the drop in class back to mid-week company. He was last seen finishing 11th on July 24 at Caulfield when finding the task too difficult over the concluding stages. Prior to that run, he was a dominant all-the-way victor on the Synthetic at Ballarat and in a race bereft of early speed should get his own way out in front. Josh Richards hops on board claiming 1.5kg which will help his chances having to only carry 62kg, rather than 63.5kg. From barrier 10, look for Richards to hunt for the rail, dictate terms and ultimately have The Defiant One prove too good for this BM58 field.

Next BestRace 6 – The Defiant One (#3) $3.50 with Sportsbet

Best Value at Pakenham: Frostin’

In the final leg of the quaddie, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Frostin’ is set to go around in one of the easiest races he has contested throughout his career. Having chased home the likes of Enthaar, Ingratiating, Jigsaw, Tycoon Humma and Starry Legend, this BM64 looks to lack the depth required to challenge him. His first up run at Moonee Valley on July 31 left a little bit to be desired, but his second-place finish at Bendigo in the Gold Rush suggests he will take some holding out here. He got well back in the field on that day, but stormed home to go down by just over a length. If he reproduces another effort like that at Pakenham, Frostin’ should be too classy for this lot at a price.

Best ValueRace 8 – Frostin’ (#8) $10 with Sportsbet
