Pakenham Racecourse hosts its usual Thursday night meeting for another week. The track is rated a Soft 5, the rail is out 3m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to get underway at 6pm AEST. HorseBetting.com.au brings you the top odds, best bets and free quaddie numbers for the eight-race meeting on Melbourne’s southeastern fringe.
Best Bet: Euphoric Summer
Mick Price will leg up Damian Lane aboard Euphoric Summer who is yet to be back in the winners stall since taking out the Magic Millions Clockwise in 2019. She has been racing in tougher races than what she is greeted with on Thursday night, a Class 1 over 1300m. The Not a Single Doubt filly was trapped wide without cover at her first up run at Cranbourne on April 9, and with a bit more luck from barrier six, she looks well placed to bring up a second career win. With her market rival Fiery Red set to make this a genuinely run race, expect Lane to have Euphoric Summer settled just off the pace and be too strong for her rivals late in the piece.

Next Best: Octagon
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Octagon finally broke his maiden at start seven when returning to Victoria for the first time since his debut campaign. Having settled in the second half of the field he sustained a long run which eventuated in him easily accounting for his rivals at Werribee on April 1. The step up into BM64 should not hamper his chances, especially after drawing barrier one and gets Mark Zahra on board for the first time. Expect Zahra to have the son of Exosphere just off the leaders heels and be savaging the line if he is afforded a touch of luck.
Race 7 – Octagon (#11)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1367489_07]
Best Value: Obi
In the opening leg of the Pakenham quaddie, Enver Jusufovic will be hoping that his perennial runner up merchant Obi can go one better on Thursday. The Excelebration gelding has finished second in all of his last four runs, including the two to begin this campaign. From barrier two, Craig Newitt will have him close to the speed throughout, and as long as he is given clear air when building through the air he looks hard to go past on Thursday night.
