Pakenham Racecourse is scheduled to host a nine-part card on Monday and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing form analyst brings you his best bets, odds comparison and quaddie numbers. The meeting is scheduled to get underway at 12:30pm on the club’s Synthetic track.
Best Bet: Diamond Dagger
Our best bet of the day stands with the Greg Eurell-trained Diamond Dagger over 1400m. The Shamus Award filly was narrowly beaten at Sandown on June 2 after settling back in the field and running on late, despite it proving to be advantageous to be up on speed on that day. From barrier 10 under Michael Poy, expect to see her settle in the second half of the field, where she can then build through the gears approaching the home straight and then let down with vigour. She clearly has the best turn of foot in the field and if she is within striking distance at the top of the home straight, she should be breaking her maiden at start five.
Race 3 – Diamond Dagger (#9)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1373034_03]
Next Best: #9 Wyld Savanna
One of the better bets on the Pakenham card comes up in the opening event when the John Sadler-trained Wyld Savanna steps out over 1200m. The Starspangledbanner three-year-old filly led up the field at Sandown on June 2, where she led up the likes of Diamond Dagger and Write The Score only to go down by 1.5 lengths on the line. She was challenged at the 300m mark but kept responding under riding from Matthew Cartwright. Zac Spain will take the reins on Monday, where from barrier 11 he will be able to use the early speed, this filly possesses to get up on speed. With minimal early speed in the race, she should get her own way of it out in front and should be too speedy for this lot.
Race 1 – Wyld Savanna (#9)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1373034_01]
Best Value: Surin Beach
The Shane Fliedner-trained Surin Beach has strung together consecutive victories in recent times, including a last start win over the 1600m here at Pakenham on June 4. He steps back here on Monday to the 1400m and having shown to be tactically versatile he looks hard to ignore in the penultimate race on the card. From the wider barrier (17) expect Damien Thornton to go towards the rear of the field and if he is good enough, he will certainly get his chance to bring up a hat-trick of wins in the third leg of the quaddie.
Race 8 – Surin Beach (#4)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1373034_08]
