Pakenham Racecourse is set to hold yet another Thursday evening meeting, and with a bit of luck, HorseBetting’s tipping expert can find you a couple of winners across the seven-race card. The track is rated a Good 4, and while the rail comes out to the 6m mark, the course has raced fairly in recent weeks and we expect nothing different on Thursday. Racing commences at 5:45pm AEDT.

Pakenham Best Bet – Lunares

In the second leg of the quaddie, we are expecting the Mathew Ellerton-trained Lunares to return to the winner’s circle for the third time in five runs this campaign. Having started back with two wins in December, the Akeed Mofeed mare has put in a couple of average efforts of late but looks set to bounce back in this BM64 affair over 1400m. Having won at the 1300m and 1469m this time in, the 1400m looks to be much more suitable than the mile which she competed at last start. From barrier eight, look for Damian Lane to be aggressive early on and have the four-year-old in the one-one throughout. She has a sharp sprint and, with even luck in the home straight, should prove too good for this lot.

Next Best Bet at Pakenham – Ocean Chief

Having strung together consecutive victories at the Pakenham 1600m, the Mike Moroney-trained Ocean Chief will be looking to make it three wins from as many starts at the track and distance. The five-year-old Ocean Park gelding makes his own luck up on speed and looks to be the natural race leader on paper. Jordan Childs sticks on board having partnered the horse to both of those wins, and from barrier 12 he will need to be aggressive early in finding the rail. If Ocean Chief can find the rail and is anywhere near the level that has seen him string together two wins, then he should be too good once again.

Best Value Bet at Pakenham – Dommantella

We have no doubt that the market will gravitate towards Semper Fortis in the third race, but we are giving the Greg Eurell-trained Dommantella a big chance over 1600m. The four-year-old Trust In A Gust gelding was beaten a half-length by that runner at this track and distance on February 17, leading the field up and finishing third. With little pressure on pace this time around, he looks a nice bet in this. Damien Thornton hops back on board and should have no issue in finding the pole from barrier five and dictating terms throughout. If Dommantella can offer a kick this time round, then he should be breaking his maiden at a nice price.
