Best Bet: Boschendal
The Greg Eurell-trained Boschendal comes to Pakenham on Thursday night on the back of two runner-up performances. One of those came over the Pakenham 1600m on April 1, when the Turffontein gelding was sent around as an odds-on commodity but was left flat-footed when pace was injected into the race. Expect Jamie Mott to have Boschendal in a more prominent position in the small field this Thursday. With a well-timed run, there should be no excuses this time.

Next Best: Hinto Blue
The Dabernig & Hayes-trained Hinto Blue has returned in career-best form, winning his maiden and following up with a pair of second-place finishes. Two starts back the Tavistock gelding threw away a race-winning lead over this track and distance before veering out badly and losing all momentum in his run to the line. Jye McNeil hops on board for the first time and, from barrier six, will look to put Hinto Blue be one pair back from the speed. If he gets the timing right, it should be win number two.

Best Value: Unique Bambino
In the opening leg of the Pakenham quaddie, Frankie Stockdale will leg up Laura Lafferty for the first time on Unique Bambino. The Top Echelon gelding was sent around as a rank outsider on April 1 when finishing just over a length in second place over this track and distance. Having won two starts back over the Pakenham 1200m, it is clear Unique Bambino has an affiliation with the setup. From barrier two, we expect Lafferty to have him just off the leaders’ heels before charging home at the top of the straight.
