Pakenham Racecourse is set to host an eight-part card on its synthetic track this Friday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets, top odds and quaddie numbers for the meeting. The rail is set in the true position for the entire circuit, and the first race is scheduled to jump at 1pm AEST.
Best Bet: Magic Murphy
On the quick seven-day backup, we are happy to be with the Jason Warren-trained Magic Murphy after just being held out in similar grade on May 28. Billy Egan retains the ride, which is an added bonus, and from barrier nine expect to him to flop to the rear of the field. Despite going down by under a half-length in his last start over 2200m, the five-year-old gelding managed to put five lengths on his closest rival. Look for Egan to make his move with 600m as Magic Murphy proves too good for what looks to be a thin maiden field.
Race 3 – Magic Murphy (#7)Next Best: Mottram
The Robbie Griffiths-trained Mottram was beaten 1.5 lengths as a drifting favourite over the 1200m on this surface back on May 13, but there looked to be a number of excuses in the running. The three-year-old gelding was held up at a crucial time and so could not build through the gears, but once he saw daylight he ground away nicely on the inside. From barrier two under Ben Allen he will need a little bit of luck in the home straight, but he should be too good for this lot if nothing goes awry.
Race 1 – Mottram (#5)Best Value: Lord Wonder
The Enver Jusufovic-trained Lord Wonder saluted as a short-priced favourite at Bendigo on May 16, and we expect him to continue that winning form. With a runner-up effort to his name on the synthetic in his career already, we know he will handle the surface. Both runs this campaign have been nothing short of impressive, with a narrow runner-up effort on the turf track at Pakenham preceding his dominant win at Bendigo. On the back of a comfy steer from Craig Newitt out of barrier four, Lord Wonder should be simply too good for this field in the final leg of the quaddie.
