The John McArdle-trained Nevershotthedeputy has chased home The Running Man in both runs this campaign and will be out to break her run of second-placed finishes. The Written Tycoon filly comes back to the synthetic surface which is a surface she has minor-placed finish to her name already. She has a racing pattern which is easy to like, with strong barrier manners she will look to find the rail and dictate terms from barrier 12. Jamie Mott hops back on board for this run and in a race that lacks early speed she should get a quiet time in front and prove hard to run down in the third leg of the quaddie.

Next Best: Sublime Diva
Colin Little saddles up Sublime Diva, a mare out of Brazen Beau and three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva. She may not reach the heights of her mother, but Sublime Diva does look the one to be with in the second leg of the quaddie. She returned at Geelong on May 14 with a narrow defeat after doing plenty of work early on. From barrier three, there should be no such excuses on Monday and with Mikaela Lawrence’s 3kg claim she will appreciate going around with just 57.5kg on her back. Look for Lawrence to settle her just off the speed and when asked for an effort at the end of 2200m she should prove too good for this BM58 field.

Best Value: Brave Lad
Brave Lad saw plenty of backing on debut at Wodonga on May 7 but could do no better than a fifth-place finish. Having shown plenty of early speed in a barrier trial at Cranbourne prior to that debut run, he simply lost his chances on debut with poor barrier manners. With a big price on offer for his second run, all he will need is natural improvement and smarter barrier manners and he should be fighting out the finish here in what looks to be a maiden event with not much depth.
