Newcastle Racing Betting Preview – Monday, Feburary 1, 2021
Newcastle will be the host of seven races on the first of February in 2021, and it looks a nice little card to find some winners on. It is currently a Soft 7 there and the rail is in the +3m position for the entirety of the course. The first race will face the starter at 1:50pm.
Best Bet : Race 4 – Dulcero #8
Four-year-old mare Dulcero has had a change of trainer from James Cummings to Sam Kavanagh, but it doesn’t mean that her past form no longer stands. She has only had the three career starts and she has shown some ability with a second at this track in May behind Brook Hill. Prior to that at Wyong in September 2019, she went around in an 1100m maiden behind the likes of Akari and Threeood who have proved to be Stakes grade. From barrier 10, she will be ridden forward under Andrew Gibbons and should prove a touch too classy.

Next Best : Race 6 – Tapiconic #1
Will Freedman and Christian Reith combine in the penultimate with top weight, Tapiconic. The five-year-old gelding has won just the one start from 12 races but has been consistently around the money with six placings and a handful of fourths and fifths. The gelding is first up for two months here which will see him nice and fresh under the top weight and the form he brings here is superior to some of his rivals with a 4L defeat to Private Eye last time out at Gosford. He won a trial by 6L between this run and his last, beating Wren’s Day who is no slouch. From barrier 1, he can be in a forward position and tough this out to make it win number two.

Best Value : Race 7 – Avion Fury #8
Avion Fury is another with just the one win to their name in the last race of the day, but he should find this a lot easier. The four-year-old gelding was seven lengths off the winner in third las time out, but that came behind the budding star Exoboom, wo we are happy to ignore the margin. Before that run, he was 4L off Nikohli Beagle and has placings behind Roman and Snitzifly which is handy form for this. From barrier 3 under Sam Clipperton, he will likely be allowed to relax and find a spot midfield and will hopefully be finishing over the top of them late.
