Newcastle horse racing preview
Due to severe heat over the weekend in New South Wales, Sunday’s scheduled meeting at Newcastle will now take place this Tuesday afternoon instead. The track is currently rated a Good 4, and the rail is in the +5m position for the entire circumference of the course. The first field is set to face the starter at 12:10pm local time.
Richard and Michael Freedman saddle up Seduction Queen in a bid to get a second win on the board. The three-year-old Kermadec filly finished a narrow second to Angel Helena last start over a mile, so she is in decent touch. Christian Reith will take the ride from barrier six and look to settle around midfield. Seduction Queen consistently runs home strongly, so the rise in trip to 1870m for the first time should suit.

Robert Thompson has a good book of rides on Tuesday, all for trainer Rodney Northam, and their best looks to come up in the seventh with Aristograts. The seven-year-old gelding always finishes around the money and was a good winner at his most recent outing at Port Macquarie just a little over two weeks ago. Barrier seven will see RT land bang on midfield, and with even luck they’ll finish right over the top of them. Aristograts has placed three times at 1400m without winning, but the 415m straight should give him every chance to wind up in time.

The former Queenslander Champagne Daisy will be having her first start for new trainer Mack Griffith since leaving the Vandyke yard on the Sunshine Coast in July. She’s the benefactor of two nice trials which should see her perform well fresh. Drawn the middle of the line under Koby Jennings from gate six, she looks to be the sole speed influence in the race. Benchmark 64 grade should see her in this for a very long way at a nice price.
