Nathan McPherson has been suspended for two months after a horse he trains returned a positive sample to a metabolite of cocaine.

Cranbourne-based McPherson pleaded guilty to a Racing Victoria stewards charge of taking Hunting Hill to race at Caulfield in October with a prohibited substance in its system.

A pre-race urine sample detected the presence of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board suspended McPherson for two months but allowed him to start Epic Moment in Wednesday’s Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap before serving his suspension.

Hunting Hill finished 11th in the Mypunter.com Handicap.
