John Sargent and Liam Magorrian combine in the first leg of the quaddie with a Muswellbrook specialist. Aerobatic Warrior has had three starts here for two wins and a second, including a 4.5 length demolition job at the end of last campaign. The three-year-old son of Nicconi was plain first-up at Newcastle in a Benchmark 64 with 60kg, so rising only half a kilogram and up just two benchmark points should see him competitive in an easier race. Expect to see the gelding settle in the first pair from barrier eight and finding his way back to the winner’s stall.

Next Best –#6 Cross Step
Paul Messara’s three-year-old filly Cross Step was a nice last start winner at Tamworth in maiden grade. The daughter of Olympic Glory finished fifth on debut at this track in a race that has produced three winners, including herself at her next start. After settling midfield at Tamworth, the filly chased hard to win by a length, with a good gap back to third. Drawn barrier four, we should see her settle in a similar spot and be going close to winning again.

Best Value – #4 Insider Trader
We liked the way Insider Trader finished off over the 2350m trip at Newcastle three weeks ago in a Maiden & Class 1 Plate, so we are going back to the well at the nice price of $7.50. The Greg Hickman-trained gelding drops only 50m to the 2300m journey and keeps Andrew Gibbons aboard which is a plus. From barrier eight, the son of Dundeel will be ridden for some cover and should be able to get into a nice rhythm before being produced late. He can go back-to-back.
