A nine-race card is scheduled for Murray Bridge on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian racing expert presents his best bets and quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 5 with the rail in the true position, while the first race is set to go at 11:26am local time.
Murray Bridge Best Bet: Hills
Wins do not come any more easy on the eye than what Will Clarken’s Hills put together at Morphettville on June 12. She settled no better than four wide without cover on that day, yet she comes to Murray Bridge on the quick seven-day backup. Kayla Crowther retains the ride, which certainly helps the four-year-old mare’s chances, but we think she will be simply too good for them anyway. She goes up 3kg from her last start, and all she needs is a little bit of luck early in terms of gaining cover before she makes her move and puts this field away with ease.
Race 5 – Hills (#8)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372251_05]
Next Best at Murray Bridge: Poysed To Rein
The Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Poysed To Rain comes to Murray Bridge off a thoroughly impressive first-up win at Morphettville on June 5. On the back of a hot tempo, the five-year-old Sepoy mare sustained a sharp turn of foot from the rear of the field to win by close to three lengths. With a hot tempo expected over 1400m at Murray Bridge, we expect Jake Toeroek to have her settled in the second half of the field. If she brings some similar to that first-up effort, it should be consecutive wins for Poysed To Rein.
Race 6 – Poysed To Rein (#3)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372251_06]
Murray Bridge Value Bet: Trip
The David Jolly-trained Trip looks extremely well placed after average efforts at her first three runs this campaign. After needing to carry 59kg on May 29 at Morphettville, she drops 7kg for this run after apprentice Sophie Logan’s 2kg claim. The four-year-old mare’s racing pattern is easy to like, as she has strong barrier manners and heads straight to the front of the field. She will ping out from barrier 13, look for the rail and make this a genuine 1200m sprint.
Race 7 – Trip (#13)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372251_07]
