Murray Bridge is scheduled to host a nine race card on Saturday afternoon, on a track rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position throughout the circuit. HorseBetting.com.au brings you our Murray Bridge race-by-race preview, best bets, top odds and free quaddie selections for the meeting set to get underway from 11:56am AEST.

Race 1- Graham Edwards Crash Pratt Towing Handicap (2500m)

Selections: 3-2-1-4

A 2500m BM82 is set to kick off the Murray Bridge card with nine stayers set to duke it out. The Grant Young-trained Exalted Beast could not have been any more dominant two runs back when scoring over the Murray Bridge 2000m on May 5, scoring by 6.5 lengths. He tends to do his best racing up on speed, and having drawn barrier two on Saturday, we expect Jacob Opperman to have him just off the leaders’ heels. With Opperman’s 3kg claim, he gets in 0.5kg above the minimum at 54.5kg, and with such a lightweight and the proven form on the board he should prove hard to beat come Saturday.

Race 2- Irongate Maiden Plate (1200m)

Selections: 13-1-14-4

Our best value bet on the Murray Bridge card comes up in the second race, when the Peter Hardacre-trained Perfect Zed steps out. On the quick eight-day backup, the Toronado filly will be searching for a bit more luck after being trapped three wide no cover up on speed at Hamilton on May 13. In all three runs this campaign, she has seen plenty of market support suggesting that a maiden win is around the corner. Ryan Hurdle hops back on board, after partnering the filly three runs back on the Morphettville Parks track and if she brings her best form to Murray Bridge she should prove hard to beat.

Best ValueRace 2 – Perfect Zed (#13) Bet with Sportsbet

Race 3- Terminix Pest Weed Control Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 5-1-2-6 (Best Bet #5 Star Of Uma @ $2.30 Bet 365)

Our best bet on the card sees Star Of Uma looking to go one better, after getting nosed out at Morphettville during the Adelaide Racing Carnival. She was sent around as a drifting favourite on May 8, and ran into one who had seen plenty of market support and was outbobbed on the winning post. Her barrier trial prior to that first up run saw Barend Vorster struggling to hold her back, and if she brings that bullish approach to Murray Bridge she will take some catching. From barrier three, we expect Vorster to lead on the I Am Invincible filly. With a lack of natural leaders in the race, she should get her own way out in front and if that is the case, they simply will not catch her.

Best ValueRace 3 – Star of Uma (#5) Bet with Sportsbet

Race 4- Edinburgh Hotel Social Club Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 1-3-7-11

Having already won first-up from a spell in the past, we expect the Michael Hickmott-trained Lady Bethany to be hard to hold out. Back from a near seven-month spell, the Niagara mare gets the services of Victorian apprentice Melissa Juius for the first time, and gets the benefit of her 3kg claim. We expect Julius to settle her mount midfield with a bit of cover, and if she is successful in doing so, Lady Bethany has shown a sharp turn of foot in the past and will be looking to build on her handy record to date.

Race 5- Elders Livestock Wool Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 7-2-11-6

Bullet Kid for Sue Jaensch has strung together a hat-trick of wins heading into this BM60 on Saturday, including a dominant win over this track and distance on May 5. Jeffrey Maund hops back on board, and is yet to taste defeat in two starts aboard the son of Bite The Bullet, and despite drawing barrier four, we expect Maund to have him out towards the rear of the field. He has shown this campaign that he has the ability to get well back, and run on strongly which is what he will need to do on Saturday. If he gets the race run to suit, there’s no reason he cannot make it four wins on the bounce.

Race 6- Mulch N More Handicap (1000m)

Selections: 3-4-10-11

Opening the Murray Bridge quaddie is a BM68 dash over the 1000m with Hypersonic looking hard to go past. He simply had no luck at his first-up run when settling four wide without cover throughout the 1050m at Morphettville on April 17. He had plenty of backing on that day and was sent around as the market elect. From barrier four on Saturday, he simply should not find himself in so much trouble and with Jacob Opperman’s 3kg he will get in well in the weights. With speed drawn to his outside, look for Opperman to take a sit on the Brazen Beau gelding and prove too hard to hold out in the shadows of the winning post.

Next BestRace 6 – Hypersonic (#3) $4.60 with Sportsbet

Race 7: Ridley’s Plumbing And Earthmoving Handicap (1600m)

Selections: 1-5-10-3

Neodium was unlucky not to win at his last start at Morphettville on May 8, but we expect him to get back into the winners circle in the second leg of the quaddie. He does his best racing when up on speed, and having drawn barrier 13, Sophie Logan will have no choice but to take the grey forward. He gets back on top of the ground where all four of his wins have come, including a win already over the Murray Bridge 1600m. With Logan’s 2kg claim, we expect them to take up the running and prove awfully hard to run down.

Race 8- McKechnie Concreting Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 8-11-12-15

The 1200m might be a touch sharp for the Michael Hickmott-trained Peloton, but we expect him to be hitting the line strongly in a race that seemingly has a bit of speed in it. We expect the returning Jessica Eaton to take him forward and make it a genuinely run 1200m event. He will get better over further so the 1200m will not be an issue and will run it out strongly, the slight query is whether he has the turn of foot to match it with this lot. With $10 at racing betting sites on offer, we are willing to find out in a field with plenty of chances.

Race 9- Premi-Air Refrigeration And Air Conditioning Handicap (1400m)

Selections: 9-10-12-1

Skilled Bunch was narrowly beaten at Morphettville on May 8 when finding one better in a photo finish. With two wins from four starts here at Murray Bridge over the 1400m in the past, we expect Sue Jaensch and Jeffrey Maund to bring up a training double on the day. He will look to settle in the second half of the field and be charging home over the concluding stages of the 1400m. If he gets the race run to suit his racing pattern he should be too strong over the final 100m for this BM68 field in the final leg of the quaddie.
