The Murray Bridge Racing Club is the destination for metropolitan racing in South Australia for the weekend, with nine races set down for decision. With rain forecast in the 24 hours leading up to raceday, we are set to be racing on a deteriorating Soft 6, while the rail will remain in the true position for the meeting. As the day goes on, we anticipate jockeys will look to head towards the centre of the track upon entering the home straight. The first race is set to jump at 12:02pm ACST.
Best Bet at Murray Bridge: Night Of Delight
Fresh off bolting in at Swan Hill under a relative hold in her first start for Tom Dabernig, Night Of Delight simply looks to be the best bet of the day on Saturday. She settled midfield during that win on August 7 and hit the front at the 200m mark, putting close to five lengths on her rivals in a truly dominant display. Despite the tricky draw in barrier seven, there looks to be enough early speed in the race to guarantee that the five-year-old mare gains cover upon settling. The race looks perfectly set-up for a sprinter armed with a strong finishing burst to charge over the top of some vulnerable leaders.

Next Best at Murray Bridge: Intrepid Eagle
Following a comfortable debut victory at the Murray Bridge 1200m on August 6, the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Intrepid Eagle returns to the track and trip, this time in a 0-62 handicap. The three-year-old gelding showed a nice turn of foot after settling up on speed to put an easy 1.5 lengths on his closest rival. From gate 12, the son of Alpine Eagle will need to show clean barrier manners once again under Barend Vorster. If he does so, he looks the one to settle outside the leader once again. In what looks to be an easy step up in class, Intrepid Eagle should prove too good for this lot with a repeat effort of his debut win.

Best Value at Murray Bridge: Dixie Whistler
Gordon Richards & Damien Moyle send their five-year-old mare Dixie Whistler back to Murray Bridge, where she will be looking to bring up a fourth win from her last five starts. Having strung together three wins in succession, she went to Morphettville on August 13 and seemingly found the 2000m a touch too short for this point in her career. She steps up to the 2500m on Saturday, and considering she has won at 2100m and 2200m this prep, we anticipate the 2500m journey will be no hinderance to her chances. From barrier, look for Lachie Neindorf to use his 1.5kg claim to his advantage and have Dixie Whistler bounding along out in front. If she is anywhere near her best, she will make a mockery of the $16 price some online bookmakers are offering.
