Jamie Mott has become the third Victorian jockey to reach 100 winners this season.
Jamie Mott has become the third jockey to reach 100 Victorian wins this season, bringing up the milestone at Geelong.
Mott rode a double on Tuesday with the first of his winners for the day on three-year-old gelding Frankiedee in a maiden taking him to a century for the season.
All of Mott’s winners during 2017/18 have been in Victoria and he has just under a month to try to better his career-best tally of 112 from a decade ago.
Mott, who also rides over jumps, also reached a century last season with 102 wins.
Mott has joined Linda Meech and Damian Lane to go past 100 Victorian wins this season, with Meech leading the state premiership on 118 while Lane is six wins behind.
Lane is also challenging for the Melbourne metropolitan jockeys’ premiership and returns to city racing on Wednesday at Sandown having missed the past two meetings.
Craig Williams leads the title race on 50, two ahead of Lane with eight metropolitan meetings remaining.
Mott’s win on Frankiedee was the first of a treble on the day for Kilmore-based trainer Alicia Macpherson who also won with Missandei and Lycka Till.
It was the first treble for Macpherson in her training career.
