A perfect Spring day is upon us when a nine race card gets underway on Saturday at Morphettville. The track has come up a Soft 5 and with the rail out three metres from the 1000 metres to the winning post and then true the remainder. The track is set play fairly for what looks a card with some gallopers on track for black type racing.
The first of nine is set to jump at 12:51pm AEST.

It was a pretty easy watch for us when we were on this Michael Hickmott trained gelding last start four weeks ago. Jessica Eaton will most likely get the same instructions as that day, which will be to get him to the front and do not let anything catch you. In a race with not much early speed engaged, he maps to get an easy time of it up front, and with those cheap sections he will prove too hard to catch. In both Australian starts this campaign, he has raced keenly but kicked away to prove he has plenty to offer connections.

Phillip Stokes and Kayla Crowther combine with this four year gelding in a race he looks perfectly suited for. He looked to have been a good thing beaten when second up here four weeks ago, but got out of a pocket just in time to score by the barest of margins. From barrier seven Crowther should be able to get him in a position one off the rails and prove too classy for this field.

The Barry Brook eight year old gelding would prefer it over a longer distance, but he has won twice previously in the 1500-1600 distance range. He has a nice turn of foot which he showed in his last run at Bordertown before heading to the paddock; and if he can bring that here, he may prove hard to hold out when he has the last look at them in the straight. He has returned nicely at a trial at Gawler when going clear under a hold.
