Morphettville Racecourse is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian racing expert presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie selections. Morphettville Best Bet: Pindaric
The undefeated Michael Hickmott-trained Pindaric returns to the Morphettville 1200m as he looks to extend the unbeaten start to his career to six wins. The four-year-old Fastnet Rock gelding managed to grip on at Murray Bridge on July 3, despite settling three wide without cover up on speed. He proved to be too good for his rivals on that occasion and goes down 1.5kg off that last run, and with three wins on Soft tracks to his name, he looks a clear best bet on the Morphettville card with Jessica Eaton on board.
Next Best at Morphettville: Star Of Uma
We were with the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Star Of Uma at Flemington on July 3 when she was simply outclassed, and a return to BM68 grade over 1200m looks ideal deep into a campaign. The three-year-old I Am Invincible filly returns to the Morphettville 1200m, where she has two wins from two starts, and with apprentice Scarlet So on board claiming 3kg she should be too good for this field. Despite drawing barrier 12, So will look to go forward, dictate terms and kick clear to help Star Of Uma remain undefeated over the track and distance.
Morphettville Value Bet: Scenic Host
In the opening leg of Saturday’s quaddie the Michael O’Leary-trained Scenic Host comes to Morphettville following a dominant three-length victory at Bordertown on July 7. That win came on a Heavy 9 where the three-year-old filly settled close to last, made up plenty of ground off a long-sustained run and then managed to put them away with relative ease. On a day where proven wet-track form should be beneficial, and with just 56kg on her back, we anticipate Scenic Host will handle the rise to Saturday company and continue her winning ways at a nice price.
