|Where||Morphettville Racecourse – 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville SA 5043|
|When||Friday, July 30, 2021|
|First Race||12:15pm ACST|
A rare eight-race card is scheduled for the Morphettville Parks track on Friday afternoon owing to the rescheduled meeting washed out by rain on July 24. HorseBetting.com.au’s South Australian form expert presents his best bets and top quaddie numbers for the day, with odds from the country’s top online bookmakers. The track is rated a Heavy 8 with the rail out 2m from the 100m to the 400m and then true for the remainder of the course. The meeting is set to get underway at 12:15pm local time (12:45pm AEST).
Morphettville Best Bet: Great Diviner
Our best bet comes up in the third event when the Will Clarken-trained Great Diviner steps out over 1400m. The three-year-old Shamus Award gelding was a smart winner over 1300m in similar conditions on July 17 when beating rival Zoist, who he meets again on Friday. From barrier one under Todd Pannell, we anticipate the pair will settle just off the leaders’ heels, and considering this race is no harder than what he won last time out, he should appreciate the extra 100m and ultimately prove too hard to hold out. He has won two in succession on a Soft 7 and a Heavy 8 respectively, so we know he will handle the going.
Next Best at Morphettville: Star Of Uma
We made the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Star Of Uma one of our best bets of the day on Saturday, but she had to wait for another day following the abandonment. Despite drawing barrier 12, she should have more than enough early speed to get across to the front of the field and dictate terms. She gets apprentice Scarlett So on board with her 3kg claim, which sees her get in with just 56kg on her back. Although she found it too hard at Flemington on July 3, she should be too good for this BM68 in an all-the-way display.
Next Best Again: Tibetan
The Michael Hickmott-trained Tibetan has been progressing towards a victory with two consecutive placings from his first two runs this time in, and this could be the day as the winkers go on for the first time. Despite not being able to go with eventual winner Dominus on July 17, he stuck on well enough to suggest he could take some beating on Friday. From barrier two, Mitch Aitken will look to lob Tibetan onto the leaders’ heels, and with even luck down the home straight he should prove hard to hold out in the last leg of the quaddie.
