Morphettville is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian racing expert presents his best bets and quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, while the rail is out 4m from the 1200m to the winning post and then 6m for the remainder. The first race of the day is set to jump at 12:12pm ACST (12:42pm AEST).
Morphettville Best Bet: Miss Daniel
The Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Miss Daniel was a good thing beaten on the Morphettville Parks track on August 28 and looks perfectly placed to get herself back into the winner’s stall. She was held up for a run until the final 150m on that day, but when she found daylight, she launched late to be beaten by under half a length. From barrier one, the three-year-old Starcraft filly will need even luck in the home straight once more, but we are almost certain Jake Toeroek will not make the same mistake that Callan Murray did last time out. Look for Toeroek to use the rails to his advantage and dictate terms throughout. If Miss Daniel brings her best on Saturday, she will be very hard to beat.
Race 3 – Miss Daniel (#7)Next Best at Morphettville: Extra Award
Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas bring the four-year-old Another Award back to Morphettville following a complete forgive run on the Parks track on August 28. Teegan Voorham sticks on board with her 2kg claim and from barrier three will no doubt gain an economical run in transit. In a race that is no harder than what she competed in last time out, the Seamus Award filly should simply be far too good for her rivals. Look for Voorham to have her settled midfield with cover before putting them to bed with a sharp turn of foot.
Race 7 – Extra Award (#1)Best Value at Morphettville: Extra Mile
Extra Mile from the Richard & Chantelle Jolly yard is racing in career-best form and is looking to make it three wins in succession. On a day where it may be advantageous to be up on speed, Jake Toeroek will go forward from barrier 12 and look to find the one-one. The Akeed Mofeed gelding has two wins and three second-place finishes to his name at Morphettville, and unless he gets trapped three wide, we anticipate he will take some beating. While the final 50m of the 1200m may be a slight query, he has a nice turn of foot and should take some holding out in the third leg of the quaddie.
