Morphettville is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian horse racing expert presents his best bets and quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 5, while the rail is out 6m from the 1200m-400m and then out 4m for the remainder for the course. Racing is set to get underway at 12:31pm ACDT (1:01pm AEDT).
Morphettville Best Bet – Howl
In the penultimate leg of the quaddie, the lightly raced Howl is set to go around over 1050m and looks well placed to make it three wins from four starts. Having settled close to last at this track and distance on September 11, he produced a stunning turn of foot to claim victory inside the final 50m and went on to win by close to 1.5 lengths. The four-year-old gelding steps up to a BM72 which does not look to be the deepest, and in a race where they will go lickety-split out in front, it looks perfectly set up for Howl to finish right over the top of the leaders and salute at a nice price.
Next Best Bet at Morphettville – Noname Lane
In the opening of the quaddie, the Will Clarken-trained Noname Lane looks perfectly placed to continue his strong form as he drops back to the 1200m. Having not seen out the 1550m on the Morphettville Parks track, we anticipate he will bounce back with a first win at this trip. With one win and five minor placings at Morphettville from six starts, he clearly loves the track, and he will appreciate Ben Price hopping on board with his 3kg claim. With just 57.5kg on his back, we expect Noname Lane to take a seat just off the leader’s heels. With even luck in the home straight, look for Noname Lane to kick clear when Price hits the button.
Best Value Bet at Morphettville – Enlist
In the final race of the day, Matthew Sayers and Todd Pannell are set to combine with Enlist as the gelding looks to get back into the winner’s stall for the first time in 12 months. The four-year-old son of Sepoy was a touch unlucky last time out on the Parks track, where he was shuffled back to last before making up a lot of ground in the home straight to finish second, beaten by a half-head. He is armed with a nice turn of foot, but from barrier two he will need a touch of luck in the home straight to avoid getting shuffled back in the field like last time out. With three minor placings from four runs this campaign he is racing in good enough form to take out a race like this, which is no harder than the sort he has been competing in.
