Morphettville is set host a bumper nine-race card on Boxing Day, and HorseBetting’s South Australian form analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie picks for the Sunday meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail out 4m from the 2000m-1800m, out 8m from 1800-1200m, out 11m from the 1200m to the winning post and out 8m from the winning post to the 2000m mark. Racing is set to commence at 12:37pm ACDT (1:07pm AEDT).
Morphettville Best Bet – Ichibansan
Our best bet of the day comes up in the third leg of the quaddie when the Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained Ichibansan steps out over 2040m. Having been a 13-start maiden just two runs back, this four-year-old son of Dissident has now strung together consecutive wins including a dominant all-the-way victory at Morphettville on December 17. From barrier eight, he looks to be the natural leader in the race, and if Jason Holder can achieve an uncontested lead, he should take some running down. He steps up from 1800m, but we think he will handle the rise in trip just fine.
Next Best Bet at Morphettville – Full Probe
The Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Full Probe is looking to make it three wins from four starts this campaign. The four-year-old son of Deep Field was an impressive winner when leading all the way at the Morphettville 1250m on December 4, and this looks to be no harder than that affair. Stepping back to the 1200m is certainly no hinderance, as he will look to make this a genuinely run six furlongs out in front. He looks almost certain to gain an uncontested lead, and under a well-rated steer from Jake Toeroek, Full Probe should make it four wins from seven career starts.
Best Value Bet at Morphettville – Two Odds Sox
The Shayne Cahill-trained veteran Two Odd Sox looks to present great value in the fourth event of the day, having run second on three consecutive occasions to begin this campaign, before a poor showing at Morphettville last time out. He finished worse than midfield on December 11 over the 1050m, having seemingly gotten too far out of his ground. From barrier seven, we expect Jake Toeroek to be aggressive in finding a position up near the speed. If he is successful in gaining cover, we anticipate Two Odd Sox can finish off strongly and cause somewhat of an upset.
