The weekly nine race card at Morphettville is set down for judgement on Saturday afternoon, and it looks to be one of the more competitive meetings we have seen in recent weeks at the track. The rail is back in the true position after last week’s meeting, and with the weather set fair we’re set to remain racing on a Good 4 track throughout the meeting

We took on the Tony & Calvin McEvoy trained 3YO filly’s her last start and she made us all look a bit silly. She never looked like getting run down when cornering in front and throughout the home straight she just kept adding to her margin with each stride, eventually going on to win by four lengths. In a smaller field that she meets here, she should have no issue in getting down to the rails and dictating terms in the opener and if given a soft time of it up in front, there doesn’t look to be too many that have the capability of running her down.

We are happy to forgive the last start effort of the McEvoy trained gelding who got in a bumping duel with his market rival in the last here seven days ago. On the quick back up, he maps to be up on speed after drawing wide and will benefit off the quick back up. If he can get a bit of luck early in the running, Barend Vorster will be quite confident in what he has underneath him in a race without much depth.

We were with the David Jolly trained 3YO filly on Wednesday at Strathalbyn before she was subsequently scratched for this. In what looks a race with not much early speed involved, she should get an economical run in transit just off the leaders heels and if her last start win at Murray Bridge is anything to go by, she has a turn of foot that not many of these seem to have and should be right in the finish on Saturday.
