The Dan Clarken & Oopy MacGillivray-trained Bootlegger looks ready to peak third-up in the 2025 South Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m). After finding one better on debut when chasing home From The Block at Gawler, the son of Too Darn Hot atoned with an impressive victory at the same venue last start. He put his rivals away with authority on that occasion, and with Rochelle Milnes retaining the ride and the rise to 1400m ideal, Bootlegger profiles as the one to beat.

The Phillip Stokes-trained Nicish brings winning form into the Benchmark 64 over 1250m. The daughter of Nicconi was a dominant winner at this track and trip three weeks ago, stalking the speed before letting down strongly to score by over a length. She stays in the same grade, maps for a similar run just off the tempo, and sticks with Lachlan Neindorf. With a touch of luck from the draw, Nicish can finish over the top again.

He gives every indication the rise to 2250m will suit, and third-up now with fitness on his side, he maps to get a soft run midfield with Jacob Opperman sticking. If he sees clear air from the 600m, Test The Law should be charging late.
