The Morphettville Parks track is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian horse racing expert presents his best bets and free quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail returns to the true position, and racing is set to commence at 12:22pm ACST (12:52pm AEST).
Morphettville Best Bet: Karacasu
We were with the Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Karacasu when he resumed from a four-month spell on September 18, and he rewarded us with an impressive win. Having needed to get off heels in the home straight, Jake Toeroek got him to the centre of the track, and when asked for an effort he was quick to round up his rivals. Rather than sending their talented three-year-old to Melbourne, the stable have opted to keep him in Adelaide and strike yet another winnable race. Ben Price hops on board claiming 3kg and will go around with 60.5kg and with the step up to 1250m, he looks a clear best bet of the day with bigger targets in mind for the spring.
Next Best at Morphettville: Miss Daniel
We were with Miss Daniel when she finished fifth on September 11, where she led at a breakneck speed and was ultimately worn down late over 1200m, but we are willing to give her another chance this weekend. She drops back to the 1000m here, and with Ben Price on board claiming 3kg, she is set to go around with only 52.5kg on her back. Look for Price to use barrier five to his advantage and hunt the rail, where Miss Daniel can once again make this a genuine tempo. In a race where plenty of her rivals are lacking form, this three-year-old filly should be simply too speedy in the third leg of the quaddie.
Best Value at Morphettville: All Hard Wood
Following a win over Melody Man and Tinandali last time out, we’re hoping All Hard Wood can repeat that success in a similar kind of race. Having settled midfield with cover on the course proper at Morphettville on September 18, he was able to go home better than his more fancied rivals, who he meets again here better at the weights. The son of All Too Hard will need a touch of luck from barrier 10 early on, but if he is afforded that luxury, we expect Jeffrey Maund to have him moving approaching the home turn. He will be hard to hold out.
