HorseBetting’s South Australian analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie picks for Morphettville, which is set to host a nine-part card on the Parks circuit this Saturday. The track rated a Soft 6, and the rail is out 8m from the 1000m to the winning post and then out 6m for the remainder. The first race is set to get underway at 11:20am local time.
Best Bet: Kenobi
Debut wins do not come more impressively than what the Ryan Balfour-trained Kenobi displayed over the 1000m at this track on May 29. The three-year-old son of Love Conquers All got across from the wide barrier and led the field up before bolting in to get home by five lengths. Dom Tourneur sticks on board, which is an added bonus, and going down 0.5kg is no disadvantage either. From barrier six, we expect Tourneur to look for the rail again and make sure Kenobi is rated perfectly to keep his undefeated start intact.
Race 5 – Kenobi (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371649_05]
Next Best: Icecrusher
We were with the Shayne Cahill-trained Icecrusher over 1400m on the Parks track on May 29, where he ran home strongly for third despite being well held. Cahill hops off and young apprentice Jacob Opperman jumps on with his 3kg claim, meaning the top weight comes in with 60.5kg as opposed to the 63.5kg. It was an encouraging final 400m last time out, and if he brings that form to the 1300m on Saturday, we expect him to get the better of Ambidazzle, who finished second in that race. Expect Icecrusher to give his rivals a fair start entering the home straight, but look for him to charge home late and prove too hard to hold out under Opperman.
Race 4 – Icecrusher (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371649_04]
Best Value: Bullet Kid
The Sue Jaensch-trained Bullet Kid was the best of the beaten brigade behind Fall On A Star on May 29. If he brings that form on Saturday, he will be the one to beat. He will get back in the running from the wide gate and should be savaging the line late in what looks to be a race with not much depth. Despite the each-way quote with the top bookmakers, he looks to have the best form to follow considering he had strung together a hat-trick of wins prior to his last-start placing. He drops 1kg off that run, and with Jeffrey Maund sticking on board they look hard to hold out in the second leg of the quaddie.
Race 7 – Bullet Kid (#11)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371649_07]
