HorseBetting’s Victorian racing analyst has run his eye over the eight-race meeting at Mornington set to be run on Monday afternoon and has come up with his best bets, free quaddie numbers and top odds for the meeting set to be run on a Heavy 10. The rail is set to return to the true position for the Queen’s Birthday meeting scheduled to get underway from 12:25pm AEST.
Best Bet: Vainly
We save our best until the last race of the day, where Jerome Hunter saddles up Vainly as he looks to continue his strong wet track form. He has had six starts on wet-going and is yet to miss the top three with two wins to his name. Both of those wins have come here at Mornington over the 1200m and with this being his first crack at 1600m we expect him to be hard to hold out. Having been beaten by the barest possible margin at Sandown on June 2, we expect Will Price to settle him in the first six in running and with a sharp turn of foot prove too good for this lot late on.
Race 8 – Vainly (#7)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371862_08]
Next Best: Runaway Train
When Clayton Douglas and Jamie Kah combine on the racetrack they have a winning strike-rate of 23% and we will be hoping they can get us off to a winning start on Monday with Runaway Train in the opening event. The four-year-old mare out of. Bullet Train has simply gotten too far out of her ground in her past two runs in town but returns to the track and distance that saw her break her maiden three starts back. She won over the Mornington 2050m on a rain-affected track, and we hope the fact she comes back to a bottomless track on Monday means she is going to be too hard to hold out over the concluding stages.
Race 1 – Runaway Train (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1371862_01]
Best Value: Optimizzer
Nick Ryan saddles up the resuming Optimizzer who is back from a three-month spell and looks primed to get back into the winner’s stall in the third leg of the quaddie. Having won first up in the past, we know he will handle the occasion and with Rhys McLeod hoping back on board they will take some beating. The Not A Single Doubt gelding has three runner-up efforts on rain-affected ground and from barrier nine, we expect McLeod to take him to the front of the field where he looks hard to run down.
