First Race 1:30pm AEST

HorseBetting.com.au brings you all the best bets, top odds and quaddie numbers for the eight-race card at Mornington on Tuesday afternoon. The track is rated a Heavy 8, and with unfavourable conditions in the lead up to the meeting, expect the track to be no better than a Soft 6 or 7 with the rail out 8m. Racing is set to get underway at 1:30pm AEST.

Best Bet: Mugshot

Rick Harrison will leg up Damien Thornton aboard Mugshot with the intent to go one better than his runner-up performance on debut on March 29 at Kyneton, where he raced up on speed and found one better over the concluding stages. From barrier one, we expect the son of Unencumbered to set the pace throughout, and in a race bereft of early speed he should get a quiet time out in front. His debut performance was on a Soft 5, and if he can handle the Heavy going, there is no reason he cannot break his maiden at start two.

Best BetRace 1 – Mugshot (#3) $1.70 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Rousseau

We will be looking to bookend the Mornington program when the Chris Waller-trained Rousseau steps out in this BM64 over 2050m. The So You Think gelding has shown plenty of promise throughout his career, yet he has only managed to put one win on the board from 12 starts. He raced up on the pace at Sandown and was left flat footed when the speed went on. Stepping back from city company looks ideal, and Damien Thornton will look to settle him just off the speed in the hope of catching a run early in the home straight. With a bit of luck at the right time, Rousseau can win this.

Best Value: Signorina

Danny O’Brien sends last-start maiden winner Signorina to Mornington in a very winnable Class 1. Having had excuses on debut, the Zoustar filly came out and took out her maiden in arrogant fashion when rounding up her rivals with ease over the 1000m. She sticks at that trip on Tuesday and from barrier three will find herself in a nice position under Ben Allen. At these odds, Signorina is hard to ignore in the second leg of the Mornington quaddie.

Best ValueRace 6 – Signorina (#9) $9 with Sportsbet
