Friday racing tips for Moonee Valley

Eight races are set down for decision on Friday night as the Victorian night racing season continues at Moonee Valley. We look set to be running under perfect conditions with a clear forecast and the track coming up a Good 4. With the rail back to the 3m mark for this meeting, we’re set fair for a competitive night of racing, with plenty of value to be found in the quaddie legs especially. The first at The Valley jumps at 6:30pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 3 – Dee Keepa (#3) $2.60 with Sportsbet

Dee Keepa has been racing in fine form since resuming from a spell and was victorious last time out for her third-up run. She’s a galloper who tends to race up on the speed, which is rarely a disadvantage in the first half a dozen at The Valley. From the widest barrier, Will Price should be able to get her up on speed without much hassle. If she can handle The Valley and it’s unique circumference, she should prove too classy in this BM70 for fillies and mares.

Next BestRace 4 – Loveplanet (#9) $1.95 with Sportsbet

It isn’t very often that Chris Waller sends a galloper to a Yarra Valley maiden, but he did so with this three-year-old gelding, and didn’t he get the job done in style! He was a well supported odds-on favourite and booted clear in the home straight to win by six lengths after getting an economical run in transit. From barrier two, he maps to get a similar run with Damien Thornton retaining the ride. Loveplanet looks incredibly hard to go past and should win this BM64 on Friday night.

Best ValueRace 5 – Chrome Angel (#10) $8.50 with Sportsbet

Chrome Angel hasn’t necessarily set the world on fire since returning from a spell, but she hasn’t been disgraced in either of her efforts. Last time out, the Ellerton & Zahra filly faded to finish eighth over 1000m at The Valley but was beaten by just over two lengths. Two starts back, over that same track and distance, she led for all but the last couple of metres and was pipped on the line to go down at big odds. We’re expecting a similar run here, and the drop to 955m might be just the tonic to get her back into the winner’s stall.
