The night racing season in Victoria continues at Moonee Valley on Friday, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing expert presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the eight-part meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 6m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to commence at 6:15pm AEDT.

Moonee Valley Best Bet – Vitruvius

The Paul Pruesker-trained Vitruvius looks to have plenty of ability, and we expect to see him return to winning ways with another solid performance at Moonee Valley. Having won in impressive fashion at Geelong on October 20, the four-year-old son of Star Witness was a touch disappointing when finish fifth behind Alcyone at Flemington on November 6 last time out. The drop back to this BM64 looks to be ideal, even though he needs to lug 61.5kg. From barrier 12, look for Tom Ryan to have him settled in the second half of the field before rounding up his rivals to bring up his third career win at his seventh start.

Best BetRace 4 – Vitruvius (#2) $3.50 with Sportsbet

Next Best Bet at Moonee Valley – Rousseau

In the second leg of the quaddie, we are hoping that the Chris Waller-trained Rousseau can turn the tables on The Awesome Son from when they last met on November 12. Having needed to sustain a long run from the rear of the field, the four-year-old gelding was found wanting inside the final 100m with his rival clearly getting the better run in transit. Rousseau gets a 2.5kg weight swing on the Awesome Son this time round, which should aid his chances over the 2040m. From barrier six, we do expect to see John Allen take him back and have him settled towards the rear of the field before putting them away with a nice turn of foot.

Next BestRace 7 – Rousseau (#9) $4 with Sportsbet

Moonee Valley Value Bet – Tigertiger

Rob Blacker will be hoping that his six-year-old gelding Tigertiger can bring his recent country form to the city and notch a third win in four starts. Having sustained a long run from the rear of the field at Geelong on November 14, the son of Zed managed to pick up nicely over the concluding stages of 2400m and went on to win by five lengths with plenty left in the tank. There is no doubt this is a harder task, but considering he has not finished worse than third in his last six starts, we are willing to give him a chance here. Brian Higgins will have Tigertiger settled in the second half of the field, and with another well-timed run he can finish right over the top of his rivals.

Best ValueRace 3 – Tigertiger (#6) $6 with Sportsbet
