First Race 6:15pm AEDT

The Summer Festival at The Valley continues this Friday night as the Typhoon Tracy Stakes takes top billing on an eight-race card. The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 5m, which suggests the course should play fairly throughout the evening, while racing is set to get underway at 6:15pm AEDT. Read on to see our top tips and quaddie picks for the evening, along with odds from Australia’s best bookmakers.

Typhoon Tracy Stakes Top Tip – Scorched Earth

The Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes over 1200m is the feature event over the night worth $200,000 and we are siding with the John Moloney-trained Scorched Earth. Having been pipped on the line by the classy Argentia in the Kevin Hayes Stakes, this Nicconi filly brings arguably the best form lines into the event. With two wins and a defeat by the narrowest of margins to begin this campaign, the bay filly is low flying and looks one of the better bets on the night let alone in the race itself. She draws wide in barrier eight, so we expect to see Damien Oliver have her settled worse than midfield and when asked for an effort, Scorched Earth should put this field away with relative ease.

Moonee Valley Best Bet – Agnelli

Our best bet of the night comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie, where the Chris Waller-trained Agnelli looks to make it consecutive victories at the Moonee Valley 2040m. Despite needing to overcome a pre-race vet check at the barriers, the four-year-old Written Tycoon gelding got the better of Laundy in a ding dong battle up the home straight. Considering the pair put close to five lengths on third place, Agnelli looks a clear best bet on the program. The chestnut jumps from barrier one and with Thomas Stockdale on board claiming 2kg, he goes around with 58.5kg and looks to be well-weighted in a race like this. He will trail the speed throughout and with a nice turn of foot will prove too good for this lot.

Next Best at Moonee Valley – Home Rule

Maddie Raymond brings her four-year-old gelding Home Rule to Moonee Valley for the first time and is looking to pick up his second win when fresh off a spell. Having shown plenty of promise throughout his campaign this time last year, the Rebel Raider gelding will look to return in style. Having defeated Andress when first-up last time in, we are pretty confident he can take out a BM70 affair like this. From barrier three, he looks to be the natural leader on paper and under a well-rated steer from Damian Lane we are expecting a forward showing at a nice price from Home Rule.

Best Value at Moonee Valley – Designs

We were with the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Designs at Sale on January 31 where she was ultimately brought undone by a Heavy 10 when having to lead the field up on a day where it wasn’t advantageous to be on the rail. The four-year-old Vancouver mare comes to The Valley for the first time, a track which should suit her natural on-speed racing pattern and from barrier four should be able to take up a positive position throughout. Both of her wins have come on firmer ground, so return to a Good 4 rated track from a Heavy 10 will only benefit her chances. With even luck in the home straight, then Designs should ultimately prove too strong over 2040m.
