Moonee Valley night racing preview

Eight races are set down for judgement this Friday at Moonee Valley as the Victorian night racing season continues. Perfect conditions are expected, and with the track coming up a Good 4 and the rail out 3m, we are set fair for a competitive night of racing. The first race at The Valley will jump at 6:30pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 8 – Heyington Station (#9) $7.50 with Sportsbet

Fresh off a five-month spell, our best tip at The Valley on Friday night is Heyington Station in the final event on the card. Having chased home some handy city-class gallopers during the winter, he looks well placed to kick off his summer campaign in a positive way. Despite still being a maiden at The Valley from two starts, he has been far from disgraced in both those attempts. He’s got a runner-up performance when first up in the past and comes to hand quickly in a preparation. If Michael Poy gets just a little bit of luck early from barrier nine, this one should send us home in fine style.

Next BestRace 7 – Our Chevalier (#6) $9 with Sportsbet

Robbie Griffiths and Michael Walker will be hoping they can replicate the performance they put together with this stallion at his last start at Cranbourne. Off a five-week freshen up, we’ll be hoping he can continue his good form over the 2000m, where he is yet to run worse than second. From the widest barrier, Walker will look to settle his mount in a positive position and maps to be outside the leader. With the freshen up, Our Chevalier should have plenty in the tank and take a power of beating.

Best ValueRace 6 – Eaton (#6) $10 with Sportsbet

Two starts ago, Eaton was a dominant all-the-way winner over the course and distance at the end of October. He should have no issue in settling in a forward position here from barrier two, and we know he can stay all day no matter the tempo. If given the option early on, Teo Nugent may opt to take up the running and hope the same tactics they used two starts back can deliver the same result here.
