Moonee Valley racing preview
A week out from Christmas, Moonee Valley hosts an eight-race card as Victorian night racing continues this Friday from 6:30pm AEDT. The track is rated a Good 4 and should stay in that range despite some thunderstorms forecasted for Thursday afternoon. With the rail out 5m for the entire circuit, most runners will get their chance if they are good enough.
Our best tip of the night comes from the Matthew Cumani yard with a second starter who absolutely blew her rivals away on debut at Kyneton. Tycoon Bec gave nothing else a chance that day, leading all the way to score by almost five lengths. The four-year-old mare maps to get an easy time of it up in front, and we are expecting a copy-and-paste result. If she handles The Valley, there does not look much that can get past her in the running.
Coming off consecutive victories at Ararat and Cranbourne, Fixated will be chasing a hat-trick of wins this Friday night at Moonee Valley. The Dabernig & Hayes gelding was an all-the-way winner at Cranbourne under similar conditions, so he looks hard to go past in the penultimate race on the card. Craig Williams retains the ride and should have no issue in getting his mount to cross the field from barrier nine, especially with pace drawn outside him. The three-year-old will make sure this is a genuinely run 1200m and should prove hard to catch.
Mick Price and Zac Spain combine with this three-year-old gelding who only went down in the shadows of the winning post at Kyneton three weeks ago. Drawn in the wide barrier for this assignment, he should be able to get across the field and dictate terms. He stays at the mile for his third career start and should be hard to run down, as there aren’t many threats beyond the short-priced favourite, Supreme Thunder.
