Race 1 – Open Plate (1200m)

Sanctimonious confronts a race it should be winning. The horse was good on debut to finish second, but failed to back that up at Randwick on December 16. The Tony McEvoy runner comes into this fresh as daisy and will be incredibly hard to beat.

Race 1 tip: Sanctimonious to win at Sportsbet

Race 2 – Rs0mw (1000m)

All Too Handy is the only runner here that has shown anything close to good form in a field full of mostly first-starters. We think the experience of placing third at Ballarat on January 14 will be hugely beneficial and we’re backing it in to win at the second time of asking.

Race 2 tip: All Too Handy to win at Ladbrokes

Race 3 – Benchmark 84 (3000m)

Eyes Are Blue is in stellar form and hard to overlook. The horse steps up in journey but two wins from its last three starts is impressive and it has form over and above 2400m. The winning form is hard to go past.

Race 3 tip: Eyes Are Blue to win at Sportsbet

Race 4 – Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)

El Sicario may not have placed third-up in the past, but you cannot fault its two resuming runs this preparation. The horse boasts two wins and two placings from six runs at the distance and will be the one to beat here.

Race 4 tip: El Sicario to win at William Hill

Race 5 – Benchmark 70 (2040m)

Big Pat’s Pontiac is chasing a hat-trick and well placed to get it. The horse steps up in class but drops 1kg after back-to-back wins at Kyneton and Cranbourne. Big Pat’s Pontiac gets the chance to take a sit from barrier six and from there will take a power of beating.

Race 5 tip: Big Pat’s Pontiac to win at Ladbrokes

Race 6 – Summer Sprint (1200m)

The inside draw and the lack of comparative speed puts Excitement on top for us. The horse is also third-up on Friday, a point in the preparation where it has won before. Excitement has had a short let-up and will be firing.

Race 6 tip: Excitement to win at William Hill

Race 7 – Benchmark 78 (1600m)

Floral Fever couldn’t have made better progression across its last three runs, finishing third, second then eventually winning last time out at Camperdown just over a week ago. If the form holds up – and we have no reason to think it won’t – Floral Fever will be winning this.

Race 7 tip: Floral Fever to win at Crownbet

Race 8 – Benchmark 78 (1200m)

For A Song brings in terrific form and will be the horse to beat here. The horse has not missed a placing in its last six races, two of those runs resulted in wins. This is a slight step-up in grade, but the horse gets in well at the weights and will likely lead from barrier seven.

Race 8 tip: For A Song to win at Crownbet
