Moonee Valley best bets & quaddie tips | December 16, 2022
What | Moonee Valley Races |
Where | Moonee Valley Racing Club – 2 Feehan Ave, Moonee Ponds VIC 3039 |
When | Friday, December 16, 2022 |
First Race | 6:15pm AEDT |
For the final time on a Friday night in 2022, racing heads to Moonee Valley for an eight-race program. Despite finishing last week’s meeting on a Firm 2, the wet weather around Melbourne should see us start the meeting this week on a Soft 5, with the potential of an upgrade throughout the card. The rail comes out 5m for the entire circuit, while the program commences at 6:15pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Moonee Valley: Syncrestism
The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Syncrestism managed to break her maiden in an impressive all-the-way victory at Bendigo on November 24 and looks primed to go on with the job here. Jamie Kah hops on board, and from barrier two, the Redoute’s Choice filly should have no issue in finding the front and making this a genuine gallop over the 1000m. With the rail out 5m, it should prove hard for backmarkers to swoop as the meeting goes on, and if Kah can have Syncrestism kick off the bend, she should prove too hard to gun down in the last.
Best Bet
Race 8 – #10 Syncrestism (2)
3yo Filly | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Jamie Kah (55.5kg)
Next Best at Moonee Valley: Mutinous
Having broken the 55-second mark in the 955m challenge on December 2, it is hard to see how Mutinous gets beaten over the 1000m on Friday night. The Enver Jusufovic-trained five-year-old has strung together impressive victories at his last two starts when managing to lead throughout at Tatura and then around The Valley. Barrier 11 is offset by the early speed Mutinous possesses, and if Brian Park can avoid having him trapped three wide, Mutinous looks to have a fair bit of class about him. He is low-flying, and on an improving deck, there is no reason why this bloke cannot bring up a hat-trick of wins.
Next Best
Race 6 – #6 Mutinous (11)
5yo Gelding | T: Enver Jusufovic | J: Brian Park (59.5kg)
Best Value at Moonee Valley: Bostock Raider
The Kelvin Bourke-trained Bostock Raider looks to present great value in the Class 1 event over 2040m, having finished second at two of his last three starts. The lightly raced seven-year-old gelding is rock-hard fit and, on the quick seven-day backup, is sure to take some beating at an each-way price with online bookmakers. The son of Rebel Raider will have a tactical advantage on his rivals and is set to gain an uncontested lead throughout the trip with just 55kg on his back.
Best Value
Race 4 – #9 Bostock Raider (9)
7yo Gelding | T: Kelvin Bourke | J: Harry Coffey (55kg)
