Moe Racing Club is scheduled to host a nine-part card on Monday afternoon and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing form analyst presents his best bets, top and free quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Soft 6, with the rail in the true position, for the meeting set to get underway at 1pm AEST.
Moe Best Bet: Swindon Lass
Matthew Brown and Brian Higgins combine with four-year-old mare Swindon Lass who is coming off a close up third at Sandown on August 1. She is six weeks between runs and looks perfectly placed to bring up a second career win and continue her strong form this campaign. Having won three starts back and finished no worse than third in five runs this campaign, we know she is as honest as the day is young. From barrier 15, Higgins will need to go forward and find a spot in the first half a dozen with cover. If Swindon Lass is afforded such luck, she should be able to round up the leaders and ultimately prove too hard to hold out.
Race 5 – Swindon Lass (#6)Next Best at Moe: Mussenphere
Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr bring their four-year-old Exosphere mare Mussenphere back to a country level BM58 after racing competitively in tougher city level races. Mussenphere is set to go around with the blinkers on for the first time which hopefully will keep her settled throughout the race, as over-racing has been a big issue for her. Having drawnw ide in barrier 19, Zac Spain will look to go forward on the mare and utilise her early barrier speed to their best advantage. With speed drawn underneath her, they will a touch of luck early to not get trapped wide without cover. If Spain is afforded that luck, he will have her fighting out the finish and should ultimately prove too hard to hold out.
Race 9 – Mussenphere (#7)Moe Value Bet: Velicina
The Matthew Brown-trained Velicina returns to Moe some eight weeks after her impressive all-the-way victory over 1117m on July 17. The four-year-old Written Tycoon mare has been scratched a few times leading into this run and Brown clearly has a high opinion of this horse who races on speed and creates her own luck. From barrier five, Brian Higgins should have no issue in finding the front and making this a genuinely run 1200m affair. With a win and second place finish to her name from two starts at Moe she clearly handles the track and may just be too quick over 1200m at a nice price in the second leg of the quaddie.
